Bath Housing’s Comfortably Home Program is featured in the summer 2017 edition of Evidence Matters, a publication of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Policy Development and Research.
According to the article, the older population is projected to grow rapidly, and although many seniors wish to remain in their homes for as long as possible, challenges related to affordability, accessibility, and poor linkages to health services may make doing so difficult. It further details tools communities can use including expanding the supply of aging-friendly housing options, rental assistance, home repairs and modifications, accessible residential design and community planning, as well as improving the links between housing and healthcare, among other strategies, to help seniors age safely, comfortably, and affordably in their homes and communities.
Bath Housing thanks the John T. Gorman Foundation and MaineHousing for their support of this effort.
