BATH — Bath Housing is delighted to announce that Josh Manahan is our new Director of Facilities, where he will oversee maintenance of new and existing structures while working with the team in the development planning process. He will also lend a hand to Comfortably Home, Bath Housing’s home safety modification program that allows homeowners to age in place.
Manahan joins the organization after many years running his own woodworking and design businesses. He is also on the board and the facilities committee of the Center for Teaching and Learning in Edgecomb. Josh is a talented, community-minded maker and problem-solver who will put his talents to work within the growing community of Bath Housing residents and staff.
From yacht work and cabinetry design to the installation of large, complex pieces of art (he worked as project manager for local artist John Bisbee), Manahan has an array of experience and skills that make him a prime Director of Facilities. Jumping into the workings of an organization such as Bath Housing — where our vital work can be so challenging and rewarding — doesn’t phase him; rather, it inspires him.
“I did work alone for a long time, but so much of my satisfaction came from interacting with people, not just in a customer/manufacturer relationship, but in working as a team,” Manahan says. “This position really appealed to my c
ommunication experience and desire to be part of a team — my past experiences were so positive — and it appealed to my desire to really use the skills I’ve developed. There are other opportunities out there, but this team felt very supportive and the mission really spoke to me.”
Manahan will be involved in the Comfortably Home program, something he learned about during the interview process. “What an amazing program, and what a great opportunity to both keep people safely in their homes and reduce waiting times on affordable housing. I’ll be managing logistics and assisting with whatever the very skilled Comfortably Home team needs.”
With the plans for the Congress Avenue Corridor becoming a reality, where plans of upwards of 200 new residential units are underway, Manahan will have a full plate.
“I’m just so impressed with the vision of Bath Housing
,” he said. “It’s a lot of bold planning, and they’re prepared for it. I’m so enthusiastic about this opportunity, just really impressed with the level of care they have for their tenants, as well as their vision.”
Manahan lives in the home he built in 2004, and in his spare time he enjoys hunting wild birds with his bird dogs. Bath Housing is excited to have him on board, putting his talents into creating and maintaining homes for so many deserving people in our community.
