Bath Housing Development Corporation is pleased to announce that Nancy Carleton has joined its Board of Directors. In addition, the new officers for the Corporation include Jeffry Knuckles as President and Catherine Powers as Vice-President.
Carleton leads Carleton Realty based in downtown Bath. Prior to getting into real estate, she had a career at Bath Iron Works. Her diverse business background, love of the Maine Coast and the small towns along the MidCoast, as well as interest and knowledge in homes and home designs, come together to make her an ideal board member. Carleton serves on the Tedford Housing board and is the immediate past president.
Knuckles retired in 2013 as US litigation contractor and trial lawyer. He has lectured in law and taught business and commercial law, including a non-profit law course at the University of Maine law school. He was a member of the federal Trial Bar and a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. He has represented several hundred community associations. He lives in Phippsburg with his wife Barbara. Knuckles also serves on the board of the Bath Area Family YMCA.
Bath Housing Development Corporation works to enhance housing stability for seniors, those with disabilities, and families in the greater Bath area. Working with its affiliate, Bath Housing Authority, the organization addresses the shortage of safe affordable housing available to low income households. Bath Housing serves over 325 households in the area through affordable apartments and housing choice vouchers. Unfortunately, the need is real and many households in the greater Bath region have acute housing needs.
